Three More Players Questioned For Fixing In PSL

The terms cricket and controversy go hand in hand in Pakistan, as the game in this part of the world remains riddled with constant issues that prohibit the emergence of the same. Just as the mood seemed a bit optimistic with the second edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) commencing, things look gloomy yet again. Just into the second day of the league, opener Sharjeel Khan and batsman Khalid Latif were provisionally suspended for being in touch with “suspected individuals”.
The issue is far from settling down, as three more players have been detained by the PCB in regard to the same matter. Regular team member Mohammad Irfan, spinner Zulfiqur Babar and 2009 World T20 winner Shahzaib Hassan too have been detained for questioning. The trio, however, will be allowed to play in the ongoing edition.
In a series of tweets, PCB head honcho Najam Sethi confirmed questioning the three mentioned players.
1/3: PCB ACU has questioned M Irfan. Inquiry will continue. He does not face any immediate suspension.

It has now emerged a particular set of players were willing to fix matches and clearly violated the PCB Anti Corruption Policy. The policy states:
“Failing or refusing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department full details of any incident, fact, or matter that comes to the attention of a participant that may evidence Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code by another Participant, including (without limitation) approaches or invitations that have been received by another Participant to engage in conduct that would amount to a breach of this Anti-Corruption Code.”
Sethi also issued a statement later, in which he said:
“We will not tolerate any form of corrupt activity and as this investigation proceeds we will not hesitate to take further decisive action as appropriate.”
