Getting hit for back to back fours is always a nightmare for bowlers. That innings always leaves an unforgettable scare on him. Former West Indies bowler Tino Best also had the same experience when he first time played against India in the tri-series in 2005. Rahul Dravid went on to hit three consecutive fours but the batsman’s kind words helped Best to forget about his torment.
Tino Best has applauded Dravid’s humbleness for players irrespective of any opposition. After the former Indian captain struck boundaries, he went to Best once the match ended and had a discussion with him. The former West Indies bowler said that Dravid motivated him to not get discouraged.
“The first time I played against India was in the Indian Oil Cup in 2005 and I bowled to Rahul Dravid and that was an experience, he hit me for three back to back fours. I remember after the game, we had a nice little discussion,” Best told SportsKeeda in an interview.
“He said, ‘Young man, I love your energy, keep charging in, just because you get hit for fours don’t stop.’ And I thought that was very humble and sweet of him. I’ve always had a lot of love for the Indian cricketers, Yuvraj gave me a bat once and I thought that was so cool of him,” the former fast bowler said.”
Indian cricketers were really nice: Tino Best
Tino Best has always enjoyed bowling against Indian cricketers because of their gentle nature despite being huge stars. He has admired them during his cricketing careers.
“From my experiences with the Indian cricketers, they were all really nice. Rahul Dravid and those guys were all nice and polite,” the former quick said. “They didn’t act like they had 1.5 billion people supporting them. Very humble people and that’s something I really admire. They never had any bad energy, bad vibe about them. They always show respect and love for the game.”
The 38-year-old Tino Best has played 25 Tests, 26 ODIs and six T20Is, picking 57, 34 and 6 wickets respectively.
