The dark horses of the current IPL season, the Sunrisers Hyderabad have all but qualified for the knock-out stage of the competition with 2 games still to play.
Skipper David Warner and young Bangladesh bowler Mustafizur Rahman have been the star players for the club this season but as the tournament progressed, players like Dhawan and Yuvraj have also found some form.
They face the Delhi Daredevils in their penultimate group stage match at the Feroz Shah Kotla on Friday and the Sunrisers coach Tom Moody spoke about the game in an interview.
The Hyderabad franchise lost to the Daredevils in the first clash at the Rajiv Gandhi stadium in Hyderabad and Tom Moody felt that Zaheer Khan’s DD side are full of dangerous players.
“Delhi is a very good side as they have defeated us on our home ground. We know they are a very good (and) competitive side with some dangerous players,” Moody said.
He also acknowledged that his team should be at their best to have any chance of a result in this game to help themselves to the top of the points table.
“We need to play our best game to secure (the) winning points,” he added.
Star Indian international bowler, and one of the key players on and off the field for SRH, Ashish Nehra, was ruled out of the rest of the tournament after picking up a hamstring injury but the coach was not too fazed about his loss.
He felt that his team had enough depth to replace the veteran and that the team will take a decision just before the game with many options to assess.
Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Barinder Sran have been the two most used Indian bowlers for the team while spinner Karn Sharma did a decent job in the last game.
Abhimanyu Mithun and Trent Boult are two other medium pace options that are yet to be used showing the depth of the squad in the bowling attack.
Moody said, “Left-arm seamer Barinder Sran can be brought in or any spin option,” talking about replacing Nehra for the game against Delhi.
Even after the Lions’ victory over the Kolkata Knight Riders, the Hyderabad franchise are still at the top of the table and have a great chance to cement their place with a victory on Friday.
