Cricket is known as a Gentleman’s game. It’s expected to be played as one too. But there are instances when you doubt this notion though considering the fights in cricket that have happened through time. 1. Shane Warne and Marlon Samuels –
An issue which started in the 1st innings with Marlon Samuels grabbing David Hussey and stopping him from taking the 2nd run to Shane Warne dropping a ball ‘Unintentionally’ at Samuels, followed by Samuels throwing away his bat at Shane Warne in disgust. It has to be one of the best altercations in cricket history this.
2. Denis Lillee and Javed Miandad –
1981 wasn’t a time would’ve relate physical altercations among cricketers considering the whole ‘Gentleman’s game’ tag attached to the sport but Javed Miandad almost hit Denis Lillee swinging his bat at him.
3. Sourav Ganguly and Russell Arnold –
Running on the pitch is not ideally the best thing to do in the first innings, especially for the side batting second. It gets worse when the opposition has a bulk of spinners trying to exploit that. Sourav Ganguly took the same issue upto Russell Arnold who was the culprit in this case.
4. Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi –
Indo-Pak series are usually tense and add to that two of the most combustible elements in Gautam Gambhir and Shahid Afridi in the mix and you’ve a perfect combination of chaos and verbal abuse galore.
5. Inzamam Ul-Haq –
The infamous incident in 1997 during the Sahara Cup where a spectator from the crowd shouted “Aloo” translated to a ‘Potato’ in English touched a nerve or more with Inzamam Ul-Haq. He picked up a bat and went into the crowd taking matters in his own hands.
