Trending: Brendan Taylor Returns Back to Play for Zimbabwe
Zimbabwe cricketer Brendan Taylor has made himself available for the selection to the national team after leaving as a Koplak player post-2015 World Cup. The Zimbabwean cricket board has officially confirmed the news which would be a huge boost for the country going into the 2019 World Cup qualifying tournament.
The 31-year-old had last played for Zimbabwe in 2015 World Cup and scored impressive hundred in his last game for his country. However, his decision to retire and play as a Koplak player shocked the cricketing community which once again pointed to the financial issues in the African nation.

In an official media release, ZC said:

“Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) is pleased to announce that following the end of his contract with and release from English county Nottinghamshire, ZC has formally contracted Brendan Taylor to play domestic and international cricket in and for Zimbabwe.”

Taylor could be playing for Zimbabwe in near future when Zimbabwe host West Indies in a Two-match Test series in late October. Head coach Heath Streak has expressed his delight over player’s availability as he said:

“I am elated to have Brendan Taylor back in a Zimbabwe jersey. We welcome him back, and we are looking forward to him making a big difference for us and spending the rest of his playing career in his country of birth.”

Taylor had an impressive two years in county cricket with Nottinghamshire, as he became the first player in club’s history to score two centuries in his first two games. He had three years contract with the county side that is set to expire in 2018 summer. However, the club has agreed to terminate Taylor’s contract with immediate effect after mutual consent.

“I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at Trent Bridge where I have made some fantastic friends among the dressing room and Club staff during the three seasons I have been here,” Taylor said.

“But being away from my wife and children has proven to be very difficult for me, and I have reached a point in my life where I must consider their needs,” he added.
Zimbabwe will also be hosting the 2019 World Cup qualifying event which proves to be one of the key factors that affected Taylor’s decision to play once again for his country.
