The former Sri Lankan coach and also a coaching staff of IPL 7 Champions Kolkata Knight Riders, Trevor Bayliss has been appointed as the standing coach for the Aussies on Monday. According to Cricket Australia, he will be coaching Australia’s T20 internationals against South Africa in November and it is official.

Bayliss has been coach of Sydney sixers and New South Wales and has been called as a substitute for the present Australian coach, Darren Lehman. Cricket Australia has decided to give Lehmann a break in that time as he will be preparing for Test series against India and also for the ICC World Cup, early in the next year.

The T20 matches against South Africa are scheduled to take place just after Lehmann’s return from a tour against Pakistan from the UAE.

Cricket Australia’s team performance manager Pat Howard stated “With Lehmann in the UAE focused on the Test matches, we have appointed Trevor to focus on the Australian T20 team to give them the best chance of winning the T20 international series against South Africa.”

With the above statement, Howard added “At the same time, on his return Darren will be able to refocus on bringing the one-day team together in a very big year for 50-over cricket. Darren will have had the Zimbabwe tri-series and the UAE tour against Pakistan in quick succession immediately before the biggest-ever summer of cricket in Australia, so it’s important he has some time to prepare for each series.”

Lehmann claimed that he wanted to coach every international match that Australian cricket team played, he admitted that planning and preparation was critical to successfully manage the next 18 months for his team.

Lehmann’s words were as such “We’ve got an absolutely huge period coming up. As soon as the tour to Zimbabwe starts in late August this year, we won’t then finish until after the 2015-16 Australian summer in March 2016. It’s pretty much non-stop.”

The biggest event of cricket, the ICC World Cup will be hosted By Australia and New Zealand in Febraury-March, next year and after it, the Aussies are scheduled to West Indies and after that they will play the Ashes in England.
