Twitter Reacts After Mohammad Hafeez Gets Banned from Bowling for the 3rd Time in Recent Years

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez faces the ignominy of yet another ban from bowling in international cricket with immediate effect after his action was deemed illegal after test conducted at the Loughborough University in London revealed that majority of Hafeez’s deliveries exceeded the 15-degree tolerance level permitted by the International Cricket Council.

This has been the 3rd time in recent years that Hafeez has been reported for suspect action by the on-field umpires. It was during the ODI series against Sri Lanka in Dubai when the umpires reported his action. Hafeez underwent the assessment a couple of weeks ago. It was due to his impressive showing after returning as a bowler that propelled him to be the No 1 ODI all-rounder in the world and also help Pakistan take the No 1 position in the Latest ICC T20I Rankings for teams.

The data of Hafeez’s deliveries were captured for four over and the data was recorded for only those deliveries which the tester found to be legal. It is believed that less than half a dozen of his deliveries were bowled within the 15-degree tolerance level and hence his suspension. However, the margin of his extension was not as big as for example Saeed Ajmal’s when the offie was suspended a few years ago.

There will be no consolation for the Asian giants as Hafeez’s return as a bowler lent the ideal balance to the team especially in the limited overs format. The offie was part of the bowling brigade earlier in the year when Pakistan lifted the Champions Trophy beating India in the final.

Hafeez was disappointed with ICC’s decision but promised to his fans that he will work very hard and will return yet again after clearing his action. It is learnt that he will reapply for the test only after strenuous efforts in remodelling his action. “Saddened to know the result of my bowling action from ICC, it would never pull me down, will never give up, worked so hard to remodelled it & will work again twice harder to get better to serve my beloved country Pakistan & Achieve MORE #NO1allrounder,” Hafeez wrote.

However, the ban imposed on Hafeez for the 3rd time in recent years didn’t go down well with some of his fans and they expressed their disappointment via their twitter handles. Here are some of the tweets expressing disappointment at the ban of Mohammad Hafeez.
