Shubman Gill and Hanuma Vihari’s partnership has led India A draw the first unofficial Test match against New Zealand A. While Vihari scored a hundred, the youngster Gill smashed a remarkable double century.
On Sunday, which was the final day, Gill struck 22 fours and four sixes in his unbeaten knock of 204 runs. He also stitched an unbeaten partnership with Vihari, who smashed 11 fours and three sixes in his triple-figure mark.
In India A’s first innings, Gill was also the highest scorer for India A as he scored 83 for the team. However, the team was all out on 216 runs. New Zealand then scored 562/7 in their first innings and gained a lead of 346 runs.
In the second innings, Mayank Agarwal again got out on duck while the opener Abhimanyu Easwaran also could not give a good opening stand. While Priyank Panchal scored a hundred.
Subsequently, the middle order partnership led the team to score 448/3 leading the match to draw.
Moreover, it saw Twitter reacting on Gill’s double ton against New Zealand A.
Well, this is a sixth first-class hundred for Gill from just 20 matches at an average over 60 and his strike rate is well over 70. He has also earned the place in the Test team of India but has not got the chance in the final XI.
