Pakistan’s out-of-favour batsman Umar Akmal, who has allegedly misbehaved with a trainer in the National Cricket Academy (NCA), will face no sanction from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). The inquiry set up for the incident has given the final decision over charges laid on Akmal.

Last month, PCB has directed every national and domestic contract players to go under the fitness test in NCA at Lahore ahead of the Bangladesh series and Pakistan Super League. During the fitness test, Akmal had commented rude remarks to the trainer. And the trainer reported the incident to the head coach and chief selector Misbah-ul-Haq who then asked the board to take action.

Umar Akmal regrets over his action:

PCB proclaimed that after setting up two days of inquiry and listening to both sides of verdicts, it has been concluded that Akmal’s misbehaviour was the outcoming of misunderstanding.

The statement also included that the 29-year-old also regrets his action.

“Umar Akmal has offered his regrets for his actions and the PCB has reprimanded him and also reminded him about his responsibilities as a senior cricketer,” the PCB said.

“The matter is now closed and the PCB and Umar Akmal will offer no further comments,” the statement concluded.

However, Akmal has failed to pass a fitness test and his brother Kamran Akmal also could not pass the test.

While this is not the first time Akmal has been accused of his bad deeds. Although he has continued to impress in the domestic cricket. He scored a double century in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy final in Karachi in January.

Talking about his international career, Akmal last featured in the Test team in 2011 while he is in and out in the limited over format. Lastly, he played the T20I series against Sri Lanka at home in October 2019.

Well, in ODIs, he last played against Australia in March last year.
