Varun Aaron Aiming For A Spot In Indian Team By Performing In IPL 2019

The last three years haven’t been that great for Varun Aaron. He started his career on a great note by clocking 150 KMPH with his bowling more often than not. Soon, he became a go-to bowler for India in ODI format of the game. But, after the opposition decoding him, he slowly faded away. However, he made an astounding return to domestic cricket in the 2018-19 season.

The good domestic season has given him a contract in Indian Premier League and also, he received a cap from the Board of Control for Cricket in India to play for India A team after three years of time. It shows that he delivered in the ongoing season.

Varun Aaron started with a base price of INR 50 Lakhs in the IPL 2019 auctions. However, after the intense bidding war between Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals, the former bought him for a decent deal of INR 2.4 Crores.

Speaking of the comeback chances, Varun quoted that he had a good domestic season, which earned him India A cap. He performed well in domestic trophy and in Ranji Trophy, which pushed franchises to go after him in the auction.

”Absolutely. The current season has been good for me. I got an India A call-up after almost three years. I did well in the Duleep Trophy as well. Due to my consistent performances, I am now going to play IPL. The only reason I play cricket is to play for India and to win matches for India,” he said to Times of India.

He is confident of returning back to the Indian team with the consistent performances in Indian Premier League 2019. Varun Aaron believes that a good stint with Rajasthan Royals would help him to grab the chance.

”My aim is not to play domestic cricket for a long time. I am really confident of making a comeback to the Indian team. I am sure it is going to happen very soon. I am really looking forward to the IPL and want to give my best. I am sure I will wear the Indian jersey soon,” he added.

On MS Dhoni:

Speaking of MS Dhoni, he quoted that the presence of Dhoni itself is a massive thing for India going into the world cup. He believes that his experience will be key for India in pressure situations and feels that the youngsters will get great guidance.

”He is a legend of the game and a true match winner. He is marshaling all the youngsters. His presence (alone) will be enough for India in the World Cup,” he inferred.

Well, it would be interesting to see how Varun Aaron approaches the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League. Currently, he is in a great space in his mind, which would certainly help him deliver the goods for the Rajasthan Royals.
