Video: Overexcited Wicket-keeper Starts Celebrating Without Stumping The Batsman

Remember Mushfiqur Rahim’s celebrations before even winning the game? Well, who can forget that? It was a demonstration of utter childish and irresponsible behaviour. The celebrations made before winning the game gave Bangladesh a sense of complacency and they deviated from their aim of winning the game.
The same thing happened yesterday on the first day of the new year 2017. An early celebration from a wicket-keeper meant he missed out on an easy dismissal at the end.
It was a clash on New Year between Perth Scorchers and Sydney Thunder where Adam Voges just arrived at the crease and was facing just the second ball of his innings. In order to fetch some runs, he bent down and tried to play a failed slog sweep. Meanwhile, his back leg also went ahead with him and no part of his body had any contact with the crease, which meant that wicket-keeper Jay Lenton, who was making his T20 debut had all time to effect a stumping chance but pre-celebration before affecting a dismissal left him empty-handed.
There can be a second angle to see this as well that wicket-keeper might have been appealing for a catching chance but if that was the case, then he wouldn’t have tried to stump the batsman. Wicket-keeper was in two minds whether the batsman had hit the ball or not and this confusion resulted in this gaffe with batsman surviving and wicket-keeper left empty handed.
It wasn’t a long stay for Voges after this chance as he was forced to retire as his leg was twisted after this incident, which forced him to retire at the end of the over.
Perth though in the end won the game by a margin of 20 runs.
