Entertainment is guaranteed when West Indies cricketers are around. Their colourful nature and inimitable attitude, are a treat to watch. Their dancing, celebrations, and the humorous nature make them a fan favourite and Sheldon Cottrell is one such colourful character. The West Indies pacer is known for his salute celebration after taking a wicket. However, during this year’s Caribbean Premier League something very unusual happened after his trademark celebrations.
The incident happened when Jamaica Tallawahs were playing against St. Kitts and Nevis Patriots. Jamaica Tallawahs’ Bangladeshi recruit Shakib Al Hasan was facing Cottrell in the 18 over. Cottrell bowled a delivery which was angled in on middle and leg stump. The left-handed batsman shuffled across and tried to hit it over short fine leg. However, Shakib failed to hit it cleanly and the ball after kissing his gloves went into the wicketkeeper’s gloves. Following that Cottrell started his trademark celebration. He marched towards the umpire and then saluted him only to see the umpire denying him the wicket by saying that it came off the hip. The decision left Cottrell shell-shocked.
