Video: Sohail Tanvir’s flying kiss to Gautam Gambhir

The Pakistan bowler had taken sledging to a different level. He preferred not to speak a word but to get into to head of Indian batsman with a weird gesture.

This video is in the context of what is in store for us when India and Pakistan might clash later this year. BCCI and Indian government sound positive about the Pakistan series in December. The series will not happen in UAE, but in North India to avoid any security threat.

Shashank Manohar said, “We are committed to playing Pakistan in December. However, since it’s not possible to play them in Pakistan or the UAE, we have to look at playing the series in Northern India in December.”

After Manohar’s statement Indian home minister Rajnath Singh also sounded positive about the series. “We want better ties with Pakistan, they should also think on same lines”. Though, Singh added, “BCCI has not come out with a proposal yet”.

So, bilateral series between India and Pakistan will resume after 2012 short limited over cricket series in India.

The only full-fledged series happened in 2007 when Pakistan played 5 ODIs and 3 Test matches. The Test series was drawn while India have won the ODI series.

During that ODI series, one of the funniest incident happened. In cricket, we have seen bowlers sledge batsman to get their wicket. But, have you ever seen a bowler give batsman a flying kiss?

India were 90 for 2. Opener Gautam Gambhir was at the crease while Yuvraj Singh was standing at the non-striking end.

Tanvir did not find any better style of sledging than throwing flying kiss towards Gambhir, who was in attacking  mood.

Gambhir has scored 141 runs in five matches. His best was 57.

India have won the Guwahati, Kanpur and at Gwalior ODIs while Pakistan have won the Mohali and Jaipur ODIs.

Though Pakistan has lost the ODI series, Mohammad Yousuf was the highest run scorer in the series while Tanvir was the highest wicket taker.

Gambhir was visibly shocked after watching Tanvir’s animated gesture.
