The comeback man Unmukt Chand announced his arrival in style as the former under 19 World Cup winning captain played an innings of 64 to help Delhi register their second consecutive win in the erstwhile torrid Vijay Hazare tourney for the capital state.
Once again, Delhi had a good start in a target to 232 but again the opening pair of Gautam Gambhir and Shikhar Dhawan went back in quick succession after providing a good start to the team, thus putting pressure on the middle order. The presence of Chand in the middle saved Delhi as though the other batsmen kicked off well but the inexperience in the middle order was tangible whether it was Rishabh Pant or Dhruv Shorey.
Chand binded the team innings with other batsmen and led his side to a score of 199 before getting out. With just 33 runs left to register second consecutive win in the tournament, the formalities were done by Milind Kumar and Manan Sharma who finished off the game.
Earlier in the day, Kerala had a start just similar to Delhi as their openers as well went back to the pavilion in quick succession after providing a good start to the team. It was the innings of 59 from Salman Nizar that helped the team reach a total of 231, which Delhi, in the end, chased on.
The credit for the win should go to the Delhi bowlers as well, especially Kulwant Khejroloiya and Manan Sharma who bowled quite well for Delhi.
