Prithvi Shaw, who once again starred with the bat along with Aditya Tare in the final, took to Instagram to post a photo of himself with the trophy and put in a quote from the legendary boxer Muhammad Ali.
“‘Champions aren’t made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them-a a desire a dream a vision. They have to have d skill & will. But the will must be stronger than the skill’- Muhammad Ali. This is what we set out to do as a Team & this victory is for,” Shaw wrote along with the photo.
The opener, who was dropped from the India squad for the home Test series against England after failure in the first Test and warm-up matches in the Australia tour, answered his critics well in the recently concluded domestic 50-over tournament. He smashed 827 runs from eight games at an average of 165.40 to end the tournament as the highest run-getter ever.

Prithvi Shaw also smashed 4 centuries in the tournament. Karnataka’s Devdutt Padikkal finished behind him with 737 runs from 7 matches. Mumbai captain and opener Prithvi Shaw on Sunday became the first player to register more than 800 runs in a single edition of the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
Prithvi Shaw who played an innings of 73 off just 39 balls in Mumbai’s 313-run chase, finished the tournament with 827 runs in 8 matches. Prithvi Shaw, who lost his place in the Indian Test side after disappointing tours of New Zealand and Australia, got to his fifty off just 30 balls in the final against Uttar Pradesh.
In the process, he also became the first Indian to breach the 800-run mark in the tournament and also broke Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni’s record of the highest individual score by an Indian batsman in a List A chase. He did so when he slammed 185 off 123 balls against Saurashtra. MS Dhoni’s record came against Sri Lanka when he scored 183 in Jaipur in 2005, while Virat Kohli slammed 183 to help India register a six-wicket win over Pakistan in the 2012 Asia Cup clash in Dhaka.
