Virat Kohli’s trouble with the bat continued to haunt him in the third and final ODI against England at Edgbaston. Virat Kohli, who started off on a cautious note, took nine deliveries to get off the mark. However, by the time he had played 15 balls, it felt like Virat Kohli will rescue India in a stiff 260-run chase, which saw both openers – Shikhar Dhawan and Rohit Sharma – get dismissed cheaply.

However, Virat Kohli’s stay in the middle didn’t last long and India’s premier batter was done in just 22 balls, which saw him accumulate 17 runs. His 17-run knock featured three fours before he was caught behind while trying to nudge a ball by Reece Topley moving away from him.

Virat Kohli Failed To Edge Past the 20 Run Mark In His Last 5 ODI Innings

With this knock, Virat Kohli, who has 70 international hundreds under his name, scripted a new low. This is the first instance when the premier batter has failed to edge past the 20-run mark in the last five ODI innings. His last five ODI scores read- 8, 18, 0, 16, and 17. Meanwhile, this was Virat Kohli’s fourth-lowest score in an ODI series. He accumulated just 33 in the series against England, which saw him play two matches.

The list of low scores by Virat Kohli in an ODI series are as follows:- 13 runs vs PAK (2012), 26 runs vs WI (2022), 31 runs vs SA (2013), and 33 runs vs ENG (2022)*

Virat Kohli scored only 11 and 20 in the 5th Test against England. His poor form continued in T20Is too as he failed to make a mark on his comeback. The batting superstar was out for just 1 off 3 balls in the 2nd T20I and scored 11 off 6 balls in the 3rd T20I before a minor groin strain ruled him out of the 1st ODI. He scored 16 in the 2nd ODI and 17 in the 3rd ODI.

Virat Kohli won’t travel to the West Indies as he has been rested for the entire white ball series. It has been reported that the BCCI wanted to pick the batter but he insisted on a break, and the board agreed. Virat Kohli might have to wait till the Asia Cup 2022 to return to action.

India on Sunday ended their 2022 tour of England on a brilliant note as Rohit Sharma’s men scripted a five-wicket win in Manchester to bag the ODI series 2-1. Rishabh Pant‘s superb maiden ODI ton and Hardik Pandya’s record-scripting all-around brilliance helped India end their Manchester jinx. This was India’s first ODI series win in England since 2014 and fourth overall.

Rishabh Pant’s unbeaten 125* and his 133-run partnership with Hardik Pandya helped India chase down 260 in the final ODI of the three-match series at Manchester and win the series 2-1. England was bundled out for 259 thanks to brilliant spells from Hardik Pandya (4/24) and Yuzvendra Chahal (3/60). Jos Buttler (60), Jason Roy (41), and Moeen Ali (34) played some crucial knocks for the hosts.

Reece Topley dismissed Virat Kohli on 17 runs, leaving India struggling at 38/3. Chasing 260, Reece Topley destroyed India’s top order and had them at 72/4, but then Hardik Pandya-Rishabh Pant stitched a match-winning stand of 133 runs.

India 261 for 5 (Pant 125*, Hardik 71, Topley 3-35) beat England 259 (Buttler 60, Roy 41, Hardik 4-24, Chahal 3-60) by five wickets
