Team India skipper Virat Kohli on Monday has extended birthday wishes to head coach and a long-time friend, Ravi Shastri. Meanwhile, Shastri celebrates his 57th birthday on May 27, 2019. Apart from Kohli, many other cricketers have extended their heartfelt wishes to Shastri.

The 30-year-old star batsman Kohli took to his Twitter handle — to heap praises on Shastri. Besides, Kohli has called Shastri his ‘friend’ and ‘mentor’ in the latest tweet.

While referring to Shastri as “Bhai”, Kohli reiterated Shastri is a remarkable human.

“A friend, mentor and above all a fantastic human being. Happy birthday Ravi Bhai. @RaviShastriOfc,” Kohli maintained.

Former cricketer Shastri, who has represented India in 150 ODIs, 80 Tests between 1981 and 1992, has further succeeded in broadcasting as a commentator. The celebrated coach now serves Team India as a chief coach after succeeding Anil Kumble following Windies tour in 2017.

Known for his infamous comment too following India’s historic win over Australia Shastri has often lost himself in the heat of a moment.

In 2015, Shastri served India as a team manager. However, with the time, he has developed a strong bond with World’s No.1 batsman Kohli. Besides, from time to time, the duo has backed each other which eventually saw Shastri heaping praises on Kohli for gelling the unit well.

Meanwhile, as India is in the United Kingdom (UK) for the impending 2019 World Cup, Shastri has been closely following players owing to the preparations for the ODI showpiece.

With India set to play their game on June 5 in Southampton, they would be eager to steamroll Bangladesh in the upcoming warm-up fixture on May 28 in Cardiff.

Earlier, in the first warm-up game, New Zealand has convincingly won the game by six wickets while overhauling the target in 180 in 37.1 overs. However, despite a loss, the Men in Blue are looking forward to produce outstanding results in the mega ICC tourney.

Apart from Kohli, his deputy Rohit Sharma has also greeted Shastri on his birthday.
