Fans Lash Out at Virat Kohli For Not Donating Money to Support Needy Amid India Lockdown

Celebrities play a crucial part in the time of crises. As India is hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic, the big stars contribute a major part in creating awareness among the fans through various mediums. Indian captain Virat Kohli did the same. He with his wife Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma posted videos to follow the guidelines to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Earlier this week, the Indian government announced the lockdown of the entire country for 21 days. The lockdown will adversely affect the poor section of society, especially, who are daily wage workers as now they have no source of income.

Unlike others, Indian cricketers have not donated money to support the families at the time of need.

The fans are pointing fingers on big cricketers including Virat Kohli while urging them to help the needy. While some are thrashing the cricketers or not donating money to the needy during the testing times.

Citing the examples of other sports personalities who have made generous donations, the fans tore Virat Kohli apart for his non-action.

Recently, MS Dhoni and Sachin Tendulkar have donated funds to help those who are struggling amid lockdown in the country.

As of now, the deadly virus has affected more than 700 people in India. The worst affected city in India in Pune where more than 100 cases have been registered.

To curb mass gathering and also for the safety of cricketers, BCCI has called off the annual cricket carnival Indian Premier League which was scheduled to start from 29th March.

Now, the IPL has been postponed to start from 15th April. Whereas according to reports, there is a big chance that the tournament might get cancelled altogether this year.

South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, West Indies, England, Sri Lanka, Pakistan and other cricket countries have also called off their international and domestic fixtures.
