India’s current generation superstar Virat Kohli has been a hero for Indian over the last couple of year on more than one occasion on the field but recently, the 27-year old has shown that he is a hero even off the field with some fantastic gestures.
Adding to his visit to an old-age home earlier last month, India’s test skipper Virat Kohli has now planned a charity dinner in the commercial capital of the country.
The Virat Kohli foundation in association with the Smile foundation, a national level development organization, is now taking steps to support the cause of empowerment of underprivileged children and youth.
The first step in this initiative is a first-of-its-kind charity dinner that will be organized in Mumbai in the next month.
In a press statement from the dynamic Indian batsman, he stressed the importance of education and empowerment of youth in the nation.
“Children and Youth are the next generation of students, leaders, entrepreneurs, and the future of the country and there is no better tool other than education to empower them,” Kohli said.
Talking about his association with the Smile foundation, Kohli revealed that the main objective of the initiative was to provide opportunities to young learners and to help them face challenges in their life in the future.
“This initiative is not just about fulfilling their basic needs, but making them able to take care of their own needs and giving them an opportunity to learn, equipping them to face challenges and preparing them to be tomorrow’s leaders.”
“I am glad to be associated with Smile Foundation and contribute towards this endeavour,” Kohli added.
The 27-year old himself is set to host the dinner which will be attended by eminent cricketers, industry stalwarts, corporate honchos, Bollywood personalities and achievers from diverse fields.
It is understood that the dinner will host an auction of luxury items and top class entertainment to keep the night alive. It was also revealed that around 200 guests are expected for the event which will be equipped with a 5-star dinner curated by the famous Chef Vikas Khanna.
Khanna who is also a brand ambassador for the smile foundation had some words of his own to say.
He explained the importance of nutrition for the youngsters of the country and revealed what his role was in the foundation.
“My association with Smile Foundation is towards ensuring that no child misses out on education because of the lack of nutrition,” Khanna explained.
The Chef is also involved in the auction of the 12th copy of the limited edition of “Utsav – a culinary epic of Indian festivals” at the event.
This is to support the campaign of #Milliondollar4Nutrition which aims at raising funds to support Nutrition for less privileged children.
A developing country like India need more and more of such initiatives and it is great to see a prominent sports person involved in the event.
