Former Pakistan captain Waqar Younis has heaped praise on Virat Kohli’s fitness which according to him, has influenced cricketers around the world. The current Indian captain is probably the fittest cricketer in the contemporary world. 

Virat Kohli has raised the bar of fitness which is why the current Team India is one of the best fielding teams. He has no doubt inspired young-guns and aspiring cricketers to work on their bodies to give the best in the field. His fitness has also helped him to perform constantly and churn-out runs in every format.

Speaking to GloFans during chat show Q20 on Twitter, Waqar Younis applauded Virat Kohli’s athleticism which helps him to give his best across all the formats. He also said that everyone likes Virat Kohli because of his fighting spirit.

“Kohli has evolved in all the formats, including T20. One-dayers suit him a lot and he is brilliant in Tests. He has set a bar for fitness worldwide, for players, I think for that reason also, you like everything about Kohli. He is fit, he is always in your face, he wants to prove he is the best, he is a fighter, so that’s why, we all like him,” Younis said.

Virat Kohli is the only cricketer who averages above 50 across all the formats. He also became the fastest cricketer to score 20,000 international runs, surpassing Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara records. The aggressive player is also the highest scorer in the T20Is, scoring 2794 runs in 82 matches at an average of 50.80. 

So far, he has amassed 11867 runs, including 49 centuries, in ODIs at an average of 59.33. In Tests, he is the No. 2 Test batsman, scoring 7240 runs at an average of 53.62.

However, in the last away tour against New Zealand, Virat Kohli registered the worst Test average of his career. He was out of form and easily gave his wicket. As the cricket resume, fans await to see Kohli back in his powerful performance.
