Virat Kohli, Jasprit Bumrah Likely to Miss Windies Tour
Team India skipper Virat Kohli and paceman Jasprit Bumrah are highly-likely going to miss the Windies tour which will get underway from August 3. India will face the Caribbean team in three Twenty20 Internationals (ODIs) and as many One-day Internationals (ODIs) apart from two-match Test series.
Pertinently, the Test series will be the beginning of the ICC’s World Test championship for the period of two years between 2019 and 2011. Also, the final is slated at the iconic Lord’s in London.
Meanwhile, the two pillars of India cricket have been playing regular cricket since 2018. The team management may extend a long break for the players which genuinely means the duo will miss the entire Caribbean tour which included two T20Is scheduled for the United States (US).
Bumrah had delivered goods for Team India:
The decision could be taken while considering the long home season. In the recent past, the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) selection committee has categorically stressed that they also set their focus on managing the workload of players.
Kohli and Bumrah had played plenty of cricket for the past 15 months. Subsequently, it also saw Rohit Sharma playing non-stop cricket to see Men in Blue becoming No. 1 in the ICC ODI rankings during the ongoing ICC World Cup 2019.
Kohli had proved his mettle as a leader:
In July last year, India faced England before taking on the Caribbean team at home. In December 2018, India played series Down Under while creating history to win the Test series. Team India won the multi-day format for the first time on Australian soil. They also played white-ball cricket before travelling to New Zealand shores for the limited-overs series.
Also, players were involved in the twelfth edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), before partaking in the World Cup.
The duo had played a crucial role for India in the ODI showpiece. However, India had faced a shocking exit in the semi-finals. Kohli (443) is the second run-getter for India with Bumrah bagging 18 wickets in nine matches.
