Virat Kohli Keeps his Promise to Glenn McGrath, Wears Pink Gears for SCG Test

The India National Cricket Team captain Virat Kohli won praises for supporting Glenn McGrath Foundation, who raise funds for the McGrath Breast Care Nurses and help increase ‘breast health understanding’. Meanwhile, Virat had given his promise to McGrath over doing special and delivered it gracefully; by wearing the pink gears for the fourth Test in Sydney, which began on Thursday. In the memory of late Jane McGrath, who died because of breast cancer, the third day of the New Year’s Test at the SCG, is honoured in her name.
Virat earns praises for his kind gesture
As the India captain wore pink gloves, batted with the pink grip on his bat, and had pink stickers as well, he had won McGrath’s heart. Meanwhile, the Aussie great opened up about the same in an interview later on. Admitting Virat’s kind gesture, Glenn said the moment was really special.
“One night Virat Kohli came up to me and he said that he had something special for Sydney. I have got my pink ready, it is all pinked up for Sydney,” McGrath said.
“And then when he walked out to bat and to see the pink on his glove and his pads and his pink bat with the grip, logo all in pink… It was a very special moment,” he added.

Australia, India team showed support
Meanwhile, the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) has been hosting the Pink Test since 2009, when Australia played South Africa for the first time. Since then, the tradition has been followed.
“Well Pink is a colour that I never had around during cricket here when I was younger. But now half my wardrobe is pink. When you see big, strong boys wearing pink… you know it is special,” McGrath said.

India dominates SCG Test
However, the story in Sydney has been about India so far. Not only they dominated the first innings with the bat, but they have also kept the hosts at bay with their bowling show. Batting first after winning the toss, Virat-led India got off to a decent start. Though KL Rahul got out on eight, the partnership between Pujara and Mayank put India in the driver’s seat.
Mayank who made his Test debut at the MCG failed to get to the three-digit mark in his second Test. As he got out on 77, Australia could sniff a few more in the name of Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane before stumps on day one. On day two, Cheteshwar Pujara and Rishabh Pant made a mockery out of Aussies bowling; as the pair hit 193 and 159*, respectively. Courtesy a fighting 81 from Ravindra Jadeja, India managed to score 622 for seven dec. before stumps on day two.
Meanwhile, thus far, Australia has lost six wickets for 236, trailing India by 386 runs. Plus, day three of the fourth Test ended early with rain playing the spoilsport.
