Virat Kohli got run-out after a horrendous mix-up with vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane after scoring 74 studded with 8 hits to the boundary, Run-outs are considered to be a major disappointment for any batsman in the cricketing arena.
Virat Kohli is considered as a great batsman and is in form of his life, which means his dismissal gives the opposition a major breather. India and Australia are currently involved in the 1st Day/Night cricketing affair at the iconic Adelaide Oval stadium. After India won the toss, India led by Virat Kohli decided to bat first.

Virat Kohli Is Run Out After Scoring 74 With Ajinkya Rahane Making A Bad Call
The Indian opening duo-Mayank Agarwal and Prithvi Shaw could not give the team an ideal start. Both were bowled by Pat Cummins and Mitchell Starc. The Indian skipper took responsibility and came to crease when the score was 32/2. After Cheteshwar Pujara was dismissed on 100/3 after scoring 43 runs, the deputy captain Ajinkya Rahane came in with Virat Kohli at the crease to share a rock-solid stand of 88 runs for 4th wicket.

However, a mishap took place which eventually led the team to be bundled at 244 runs. Just as everything was looking bright for the Indian team, Virat Kohli succumbed to a silly run-out in the 77th over of 1st day.
Ajinkya Rahane played an elegant stroke towards Josh Hazlewood which had no-run written all over it. However, the Mumbai-based batsman made a bad call only to see his skipper Virat Kohli walking towards the dressing room dejected after scoring a brilliant 74 runs.
Hence, the run-out became a hot matter of discussion and ignited debates in the cricketing fraternity. At the end of 1st day’s play, Sanjay Manjrekar and Glenn McGrath discussed whether there was scope for Ajinkya Rahane to make that decision to sacrifice his wicket in that split second.
Sanjay Manjrekar Recalls Incident When He Ran Sachin Tendulkar Out
The Indian veteran batsman pointed out a similar incident that he encountered during his playing days when he ran Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar out.
“I have one similar experience running Sachin Tendulkar out. And I also don’t remember sacrificing my wicket,” Sanjay Manjrekar said on the ‘Extraaa Innings’ Show on the Sony Sports Network.
Pointing out the reason for the abysmal run-out, McGrath said, “See, because they were looking to take singles, a lot of quick singles and they run quite quick between the wickets. He committed but then he said no straightaway and stopped.”

“Whether you’ve got that split second – I’m the worst person to talk to about running between the wickets – but if you’ve just stopped then realize ‘My captain’s going to get run out, I’ve just got to sacrifice my wicket, you’ve got to be really switched on to think like that.”
As far as the high-octane first Test match is concerned, India are looking favourites to win at the moment after taking a first innings lead of 53 runs. India’s pace trio of Umesh Yadav, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami along with the spinner has apparently torn down the Aussie batting line-up. Australia were bundled out for a paltry 191 runs on board with spinner Ravichandran Ashwin picking 4 wickets. Pacer Umesh Yadav also picked three wickets.
