The legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has a massive list of batting records but some of his records seem to remain unbroken. One of them is 100 international centuries registered by the legendary batsman during his 20-year long career. Currently, in the contemporary cricket world, only India’s current captain Virat Kohli, who has, so far, amassed 70 international centuries, is near former cricketer’s record. Australia’s veteran Brad Hogg is sure that Kohli will break Sachin’s record.
Sachin Tendulkar garnered 51 centuries in Tests and 49 in ODIs while Kohli has registered 27 Test and 43 ODI centuries. If Kohli constantly plays for two or three more years, he would surely stand with or surpass Sachin’s mammoth record. Brad Hogg is also of the same view. He is confident that Kohli would reach the milestone as he has maintained his fitness which would help him to keep his performance up.
Bradd Hogg believes Virat Kohli can surpass Sachin Tendulkar:
“Of course he can. Fitness levels today are a lot better when Sachin Tendulkar started. Plus they get a lot of help with quality fitness trainers. They have also got a lot of physios and doctors on board. Any niggle that is starting to happen people can get on top of it straight away.
“Therefore players miss less games and of course there is a lot more cricket being played these days. So yes, he can break that record,” Hogg added.
The 31-year-old Virat Kohli has set high bars of fitness in the game. He works equally on his batting techniques and body to give his hundred per cent on the field. He has also motivated his peers and teammates to work on their fitness to give their best for India.
So far, Kohli has represented his side in 86 Tests, 248 ODIs and 82 T20Is, scoring 7240, 11867 and 2794 runs respectively. He is the only player to average above 50 across all the formats.
