The pink-ball Test fever has gripped few of the members of team India, especially India’s Test vice-captain Ajinkya Rahane so much so that he is also dreaming about playing historic day-night Test even in his dreams. The 31-year-old recently shared a picture on Instagram where he is sleeping with a pink ball right next to his pillow. “Already dreaming about the historic pink ball test 😊,” he captioned the post.
The post has been loved and praised by the fans but his teammates Virat Kohli and Shikhar Dhawan decided to involve in a funny banter with Rahane. Both the cricketers came up with funny replies in the comment section.
India will make their pink-ball Test debut against Bangladesh at Eden Gardens on November 22 – Bangladesh will also play their first day-night Test. India have always been reluctant to play a day-night Test but with Sourav Ganguly taking over as BCCI’s President, he proposed the idea once again and Indian skipper Kohli agreed to it.
Later, a formal invitation was sent to Bangladesh Cricket Board, which also agreed to play the Test. Few of the Indian players have played with the pink ball in Duleep Trophy while Bangladesh’s players are stranger to the day-nigtht cricket as there has been only one pink-ball game in the country so far.
Kohli and Rahane have also never played any competitive match with pink ball. Apart from them, R Ashwin and Umesh Yadav have also never played with it.
The Indian players are doing extra bit to prepare for the Test match. They have been practising with the pink ball right since the start of Bangladesh Test series and had extra practice sessions even after the opening Test ended on day 3.
The Indian team will kick off preparations at Eden Gardens from today and the likes of Kohli and Rahane will also be in attendance at the camp. India are unlikely to tinker with the playing XI. The home team’s playing XI will have three pacers – Ishant Sharma, Umesh Yadav and Mohammed Shami. Bangladesh might bring in Mustafizur Rahman into the playing XI.
