In a recent rapid-fire quiz with fielding coach Sridhar for bcci.tv, India’s batting coach Sanjay Bangar tagged Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni as Superman and Ironman respectively. Both the assistant coaches were asked to relate few players with superheros from Marvel series, and they came up with some exciting names
Like for India captain Virat Kohli, both coaches instantly said Superman. For the former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Sridhar called him Captain America while Sanjay seemed comfortable linking him with an Ironman.
Next for India’s ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin, Bangar said he would call him the Spider-man, saying like him, Ashwin also lures his opponent (batsman) into his spin web. Whereas, Sridhar called him an Ironman, saying he his strategically and analytically strong and that it helps him in taking bold decisions.
For the two-time World Cup champion Yuvraj Singh, Sridhar called him a Batman. While, in Sanjay’s words, he linked him with the Hulk, adding the way he walks like a tiger, it reminds him of the hero from the Marvel series.
Given these superstars have done a lot for the betterment of Indian cricket, it would be fair to tag them with reel life heroes.
In the second T20 against England in Nagpur on Sunday, hosts India will eye an improved performance to keep the series alive.
