Delighted Virat Kohli Taunts Delhi Capitals After Their Loss Confirms Playoffs Spot For RCB

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) star Virat Kohli came up with a hilarious tweet, seemingly taunting Delhi Capitals following their loss to Mumbai Indians on Saturday (May 21). Delhi Capitals had their fate in their own hands when they took the field to play their final league game of IPL 2022. A win would have been enough for them to cruise to the playoffs. However, the Rishabh Pant-led side failed to deliver in the must-win clash and suffered a five-wicket loss.
And following Delhi’s loss, RCB have progressed to the playoffs of the ongoing season. RCB needed a favour from Mumbai Indians for a place in the playoffs and they got one from the five-time champions. Asked to bat first, Delhi scored a challenging total of 159 for 7 in the allotted 20 overs. At one stage, they were reeling at 50 for 4 before a 75-run stand between captain Rishabh Pant and Rovman Powell steadied the ship.
Both the set batsmen, however, departed at precarious stages and Delhi could not get the finish they would have liked. In reply, Mumbai Indians made a slow start but a fine cameo from Tim David put them in command of the chase. The Australian batsman slammed 34 runs off just 11 balls to crush Delhi’s hopes. Opener Ishan Kishan (43) and Dewald Brevis (34) also played crucial knocks as Mumbai Indians bowed out of the tournament on a winning note.
Virat Kohli’s reaction after Mumbai Indians’ win:
Soon after Mumbai Indians’ win against Delhi Capitals, RCB superstar Virat Kohli posted a couple of tweets to rub more salt to Rishabh Pant and his teammates’ wound. In his first tweet, he thanked Mumbai Indians by posting a handshake emoji while tagging the franchise. Soon after that, he posted another tweet in which he, Faf du Plessis and Glenn Maxwell were seen sticking their tongues out in delight as if they were teasing Delhi Capitals after the loss.

RCB will now lock horns against Lucknow Super Giants in the Eliminator on . A loss will see them bow out of the tournament while a win will see them make it to the second Qualifier where they will play against the winner of first Qualifier for a place in the final. Virat Kohli and RCB are eyeing their first-ever title. They are also looking to make it to the IPL final for the first time since 2016. The Bangalore-based outfit will be desperate to go all the way this season after losing three finals in the past.
