Virat Kohli on the Threshold of Surpassing Virender Sehwag During New Zealand Tour

From time and time again, Indian skipper Virat Kohli has been entertaining one and all with his incredible run across formats. Over the years, Kohli has not only surpassed the veterans of the game to make it to the record books, but he has emerged as one of the successful captains in the cricketing world. As the Men in Blue has set sights on the impending limited-over series against New Zealand, Kohli has an opportunity to eclipse the two feats of his former India teammate Virender Sehwag.

The flamboyant opening batsman Sehwag has seven hundreds the most hundreds by an Indian batsman against New Zealand. However, Kohli stands at par with legendary Sachin Tendulkar. Both have slammed five tons each against the Kiwis.

Owing to the five-match One-day International (ODI) series against Kiwis, Kohli is capable of bagging the records in his kitty. He is looking forward to giving his best in challenging New Zealand conditions.

The series opener will kick off at Napier on Wednesday (January 23).

Also, in the day-long format, the top-order batsman Kohli is also the leading run-getter in 2018. He further recently registered his 39th ODI hundred at Adelaide during the recently-held ODI series. An ambitious character Kohli recorded 153 across three innings.

Earlier, Kohli amassed 282 runs in seven Test innings of the four-match series. Thus, following the all-round performance India sealed historic Australian tour with a triumph in Test series and ODIs respectively.

Moreover, Kohli who has been adamant in approach to winning games for his team has often yielded desired results while bailing out his team from any of the precarious situations.

Interestingly, Kohli is also on the verge of bagging another milestone under his belt. In the 50-over format, the prominent batsman Kohli is a stroke away from becoming second highest run-scorer for India against the Black Caps.

Besides, explosive former batsman, Sehwag is placed second on the coveted list with 1157 runs in 23 outings in the ODI fold.

As of now, the modern-day batting giant had amassed 1154 runs in 19 ODI innings against the Kiwis. As usual, veteran Tendulkar tops the chart with 1750 runs.
