India Test cricket captain Virat Kohli wants to undergo a match practice before he flies to Sri Lanka under the captaincy of Cheteswar Pujara. In a press conference in New Delhi, Kohli said he will play the second unofficial Test match for India A against Australia A which is scheduled to start from July 29, the BCCI stated on Thursday.

Kohli, who will lead the Indian team against Sri Lanka in the upcoming there Test series, requested BCCI to select him for the unofficial Test match to be held in Chennai, on Wednesday, next week.

Kohli was on vacation with his girlfriend Anushka Sharma since the Bangladesh tour. He requested BCCI for a leave before he captains India in the Sri Lanka tour which will start on August 1. Kohli will fly for Sri Lanka after the end of the match.

Kohli was not part of the Indian team that played three ODIs and two Twenty20 internationals in Zimbabwe recently

The outing will give Kohli, who is literally without practice for one month now, a good practice against Australia A bowling attack ahead of tough Sri Lanka tour.

The governing body of the Indian cricket has selected a 15 member squad for the Sri Lanka series today (Thursday).

The India A, right now, are playing against Australia A in the first unofficial Test match which is comprised of three national team players – Cheteswar Pujara, KL Rahul and Umesh Yadav- who have been selected for the Sri Lanka tour. Varun Aaron, who is also selected for India’s tour of Sri Lanka, is also in the India A squad, but at the twelfth hour he was ruled out from the playing eleven due to viral fever.

Both Pujara and Rahul scored rollicking fifties in the first innings of India A.
