Virender Sehwag is all set to make a move from Delhi to Haryana in the upcoming season of the Ranji trophy. After considering his likely future with Delhi, Sehwag finally made a call and opted to dedicate his services to Haryana. The main reason behind doing so was the ever increasing corruption within the Delhi & District Cricket Association. Another reason was that Sehwag felt that he was blocking the place of talented youngsters in the Delhi side, who couldn’t get a game in the past.
‘I am really looking forward to playing for Haryana this domestic season. It is an exciting setup with a lot of youngsters in the side,” Sehwag said. “It will be nice to share the dressing room with a side that is bubbling with youth. I will be looking to share my experiences with them and hopefully shape some of their careers in the process,” said the Nawab of Najafgarh.
“He has applied for an NOC. Considering he is a very senior player and has got a better offer for personal reasons, we will respect his desire to move on,” DDCA vice-president Chetan Chauhan told ESPNcricinfo. “We seriously admire his achievements and appreciated his contribution to Delhi and Indian cricket.”
The news was reiterated by a tweet from Anirudh Chaudhary, who was photographed with Sehwag, holding a Haryana cap.
