In a note so good news for Pakistan cricket fans, pacer Wahab Riaz has been ruled out of the on-going Test series against Sri Lanka fater fracturing his left hand on the first day of the second Test match in Colombo.
Wahab Riaz did bowl 9 overs in the Sri Lankan innings but then could not continue any more. He was hit on his bowling hand by a Dushmantha Chameera bouncer while batting.
According to local media reports Team manager Naveed Cheema said, Wahab would be out of action for two weeks, which rules him out of the third and final Test in Pallekele from July 3. “Wahab underwent X-rays after play on Thursday and they showed a hairline fracture on his left-hand, He can`t play for at least two weeks,” he said.
Riaz’s injury puts considerable amount of pressure on the Pakistani bowling attack consisting of pacer Junaid Khan and the spinning dup of Yasir Shah and Zulfiqar Babar. With one specialist bowler missing from their arsenal, all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez, who bowls off-spin have to step up.
At tea, Sri Lanka were at 231-6 and were leading by 93 runs with captain Angelo Matthews batting on 57.
