The coach of the Pakistan Cricket team, Waqar Younis wants to remove the kind of ‘unpredictable’ image which is linked to the Pakistani side ahead of the final two ODIs against New Zealand.
Pakistan had a whooping victory over New Zealand recently where they thrashed the Kiwis by a margin of 147 runs. This was their second biggest victory over the Kiwis. This win was followed by a defeat where Pakistan were defeated by four wickets by New Zealand.
With Pakistan leading the series by 2-1, the Pakistan coach, wants his team to show consistency in the final two One day Internationals.
Waqar said that they have to remove that ‘unpredictable’ tag.
He said that there would be no more problem and their effort is to develop a good team which can do well abroad.
In the third ODI, Pakistan scored 364 runs and dismissed New Zealand for 217 runs in 38.2 overs.
Waqar also laid stress on the fact that they want to develop a good team.
He said that they have not become world beaters by winning the match big, there are plenty of work and if they win consistently, their performance should be so good so that even if they lose, they are not hurt.
The Pakistani coach also described about the hamstring injury of Misbah-ul-Haq which ruled him out of the last three games of the series. He said that the team management wanted him to stay fit and also to play in this series but he hopes that Misbah will be back in three weeks and also they have started working on that.
Shahid Afridi replaced Misbah as the skipper for the final three ODIs. Shahid performed excellently in the third ODI with a 26-ball 55-run thundering knock.
Waqar also said that when the team wins, everything looks fine but it would be not fair if it is said that the win came because of the change in captaincy.
Waqar said that they are trying to develop players who can bowl as well as bat so they will work on Shehzad and try to get the best out of him as a bowler. Also, they are trying to get Hafeez cleared before the World Cup.
Waqar also praised the way Younis played in the third ODI. Younis scored a responsible knock of 35 runs. He said that they are looking for someone who can bat well and can be depended upon.
