Former wicketkeeper-batsman Gilchrist, who predicted reigning champions Australia will lift the World Cup, further spoke about how the Kangaroos have shown consistency during their overseas campaign.
While backing Australia for the World Cup, Gilchrist has taken a dig at England. Meanwhile, his cheeky banter is winning the internet.
Amid Gilchrist’s interview, a loud thud took place behind his back to which Gilchrist asked reporters, ‘what was it’.
Interestingly, Gilchrist followed it up with weird expressions to predict England’s World Cup road for the World Cup.
The prominent figure in the cricketing world Gilchrist thus compared the deafening sound with Eoin Morgan-led England. He jokingly said this is how England will crash out in the semis.
“That’s a proper demolition. That was England in the semis,” Gilchrist cheekily told reporters.
In addition, the World Cup on May 30 with hosts England locking horns with South Africa. Kennington Oval in London will host the tourney opener. However, in a bid to defend the title, Australia will begin their campaign on June 1st against Afghanistan in Bristol.
