MS Dhoni had completed a fifty at the Adelaide Oval but didn’t realise it, until his fellow batsman Dinesh Karthik reminded him. Meanwhile, during the second ODI of the three-match series against Australia, DK and Dhoni helped India cross the winning line with six wickets in hand. Later, in the press conference, Karthik talked about Dhoni’s innings; also how was it to bat alongside him.
DK comes to MS’ rescue
For the 69th time in his career, the former India captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni crossed the fifty-run mark. While his eyes were set on the target (299) during Adelaide game; Dhoni didn’t notice the applause from the crowd after completing a half-century. Dinesh Karthik, standing at the other end, came congratulating while reminding him of raising his bat to the fans. Dhoni, like always, appreciated everyone in the stands.
Kohli, Dhoni help India level ODI series
Virat Kohli, the India National Cricket Team captain, scored his 39th ODI hundred in Adelaide. That, this venue is his favourite was reminded to everyone once again. At the Adelaide Oval, the right-hander slammed his fifth century; his fourth against Australia across formats. Meanwhile, India were chasing 299, and their openers did get them off to a brilliant start.
Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan found some gaps early on; before rash shots saw them returning to the pavilion. Though Ambati Rayudu couldn’t provide able support, MS Dhoni completed the formalities. Likewise in the first ODI, MS took his time, but on this occasion, he rotated the strike well. As India was nearing the target, Virat lost his wicket.
Dinesh Karthik and MS Dhoni then laid the path towards victory. Though MS for the second time in as many ODI’s scored a fifty, Karthik played a cameo of 25 runs off 14 balls. India eventually crossed the winning line and levelled the three-match series 1-1.
