With India finally clawing its way back into the game after the top-order batsmen provided Sri Lanka with a blazing start in the one-off T20I, the ever-enthusiastic Virat Kohli could not stop himself from giving the umpire a piece of his mind following an umpiring howler.
The incident happened on the third ball of the 15th over when Axar Patel’s delivery was edged behind the wicket into the safe gloves of Mahendra Singh Dhoni by Seekkuge Prasanna who was new to the crease. There was clearly a sound as well as a deflection and as expected the Indian players went up in unison with Dhoni leading the appeal. However, the umpire remained unmoved, much to the surprise of the Indian players. But while Dhoni did nothing and just had a wry smile on his face after the decision, Kohli made sure to vent his frustration as he hurled a few expletives.
Here is a clip of that incident:

The umpiring howler, meanwhile, did not cost India much as the Men in Blue thrashed the Islanders by 7 wickets to end the tour on a high. Chasing 171, the visitors were in a spot of bother after being reduced to 42 for 2 but Virat Kohli and Manish Pandey steadied the ship and all but sealed the game in India’s favour by adding 119 runs for the third wicket before the former was dismissed for 82. Pandey and Dhoni did the rest as India reached home without suffering any further hiccup.
