Mohammed Shami celebrated Cheteshwar Pujara’s dismissal in a hilarious fashion after sending him back to the pavilion in the ongoing warm-up game between Team India and Leicestershire.
Cheteshwar Pujara is one of the four Indian players who are playing for Leicestershire in the ongoing 4-day fixture. The other three players are – Rishabh Pant, Prasidh Krishna and Jasprit Bumrah. The decision to include the Indian players in the opposition team was taken to ensure that every player gets an opportunity to prepare for the upcoming Test against England.

Pujara came out to bat on day two of the game. Prior to Leicestershire’s innings, Team India declared their innings on the overnight score of 246 for 8. The visitors started poorly with the bat and were reeling at 81 for 5 at one stage. At that stage, it looked like India would not even touch the 150-run mark.

However, an unbeaten fighting fifty from Srikar Bharat helped India post a respectable total. Apart from Bharat, Virat Kohli (33) was the only Indian player to cross the 30-run mark. For Leicestershire, Roman Walker was the pick of the bowlers. He picked up 5 wickets for just 24 runs.
Mohammed Shami’s hilarious celebration:
Mohammed Shami gave India a solid start with the ball by taking two quick wickets. He first dismissed opener and opposition captain Samuel Evans for just 1 before sending back his India teammate Cheteshwar Pujara for a 6-ball duck to reduce Leicestershire to 22 for 2.
On the second ball of the 9th over, Pujara wanted to cut a rising delivery from Shami. However, the ball was too close to his body and he chopped on to his stumps. And as Pujara turned back and started walking towards the pavilion, Shami decided to have some fun.
The India bowling star ran towards Pujara and jumped on his back while celebrating the wicket. Shami then said something to Pujara before walking towards his teammates to celebrate the wicket.
Here is a clip of the incident:
