Shikhar Dhawan entered the series against Windies on the back of a stunning show in the Asia Cup. The southpaw was the Man of the Tournament as India lifted the title for a record seventh time. But since then his form has been a major area of concern for the Indian team-management.
The hard-hitting batsman looked far from his best in the recently concluded ODI series against Windies. In a series where Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma scored three and two centuries respectively, Dhawan cut a sorry figure. In the first match of the series, he could score only 4. He did get the starts in the following three games, scoring 29, 35 and 38 but failed to convert them. He had a chance to score some-much needed runs in the final ODI when Windies were all out for just 104. However, the southpaw was out for just 6.

And his poor form has continued in the ongoing T20I series too. In the first game at the Eden Gardens, he could score only 3 off 8 balls. But blaming just his poor form will not do justice to the stunning delivery from Oshane Thomas. In fact, the thunderbolt could have sent back the best of the batsmen.

In the third over of the innings, Thomas fired one which was clocked at 147 kph. The bowl landed on the good length while Dhawan ended up playing down the wrong line and paid the price for it. The poor shot created a big gap between pad and bat and as a result, the ball went through to uproot the middle stump.

Meanwhile, batting first Windies could manage only 109 for 8 in the allotted 20 overs. India, however, have started poorly and have lost both the openers for just 16 runs.
