Watch: Rishabh Pant’s Hilarious Dig At Usman Khawaja To Unsettle The Australia No. 3

Rishabh Pant is having quite an impressive outing in his first-ever Test in Australia. With the bat, he played a handy knock of 25 that was studded with 2 fours and a maximum. Although the situation demanded Pant to play cautiously, he played his natural game and unfortunately failed to make the start count.
He, however, soon managed to get over it and impressed even more with the wicketkeeping gloves. The youngster entered the record books after becoming the first Indian wicket-keeper to take six catches in a Test innings in Australia. Pant achieved the feat during the first innings of the ongoing first Test in Adelaide.
The other wicket-keepers who have taken six catches in an innings against Australia are Denis Lindsay (South Africa), Jack Russell (England), Alec Stewart (England), Chris Read (England) and Matt Prior (England). West Indies’ Ridley Jacobs leads the list for taking seven catches at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in 2000.
He also equalled his predecessor MS Dhoni’s record of most catches by an Indian ‘keeper in a Test innings. Dhoni had taken six catches during the Wellington Test against New Zealand in 2009.
Well, the Adelaide Test showed another facet of Pant’s personality. The ongoing game made it crystal clear that Pant is as talent with his mouth as he is with his bat and wicketkeeping gloves.
On day two of the game, he was seen constantly throwing verbal volleys at the Australian batsmen. A notable incident took place when Usman Khawaja was batting. The southpaw was playing patiently, keeping the Indian bowlers at bay. And in an attempt to unsettle the Australia star, Pant shouted:
“Everybody is not Pujara here.”
The statement was clearly a dig at Khawaja’s attempt to play patiently like Cheteshwar Pujara does. The India number three had showed his patience in this game too by scoring a fighting century in the first innings. Well, Pant’s sledging did make Khawaja unsettle as he soon departed after scoring 28.
Here is a clip showing the sledging by Rishabh Pant:
