Former New Zealand pacer Shane Bond made a surprising choice while choosing his favorite captains from the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
The current World Cup features eleven teams: India, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, England, Netherlands, and Bangladesh. Some of the world’s finest players, including Rohit Sharma, Jos Buttler, Babar Azam, and Shakib Al Hasan, lead the 10 teams.
India is currently in second place with 5 victories from 5 games under Rohit Sharma’s leadership. South Africa, on the other hand, is second, led by both Temba Bavuma and Aiden Markram, followed by New Zealand, headed by Tom Latham in the absence of Kane Williamson. Australia is in the fourth and final qualification position.
Shane Bond Names Scott Edwards A Better Captain Over Babar Azam
In a video posted by ESPNCricinfo on X, Shane Bond was given two choices and asked to pick the better captain in this ICC World Cup 2023. At first, he was asked to pick between Babar and Netherlands captain Scott Edwards, and the Kiwi great went for the latter.
Jos Buttler was chosen over Edwards, as well as Hashmatullah Shahidi, Kusal Mendis, and Shakib Al Hasan. When asked to choose between Buttler and Rohit Sharma, he chose the India skipper. Between Rohit and Temba Bavuma, he chose the former.
After that, he had to choose between Rohit and his fellow countryman Tom Lathan, and he chose the latter. He went with Latham instead of Pat Cummins.
In the end, he was asked to pick between Latham and Williamson and he came up with a smart answer, saying: “He’s (Williamson) not playing, Tom Latham.”
