The first four games of this season’s IPL did not quite see much of an altercations between the players. Well, it finally happened in the fifth game between Delhi Capitals and Chennai Super Kings at the Feroz Shah Kotla. And unlike the common scenario, not two but three players were involved in it as Delhi quicks Ishant Sharma and Kagiso Rabada were involved in a heated verbal duel with Super Kings opener Shane Watson.
It all began in the third over of Super Kings’ innings when Ishant bounced out Ambati Rayudu. Watson had then said something while looking at the Delhi players which miffed Ishant. The India pacer then charged towards the Australian who saw the funny side of it and laughed it away. Before things could get ugly, skipper Shreyas Iyer dragged Ishant away.
But the altercations did not end there. In the very next over, Shane Watson hit Rabada for a four and a six. Watson had top-edged the last ball for a six, much to Rabada’s frustration. It was soon followed by another animated chat between the two players. Rabada was seen clapping animatedly while looking towards Watson who too was looking angry. In fact, Iyer and umpire Marais Erasmus had to intervene to bring things under control.
