In the 12th edition of the 2019 World Cup, West Indies is widely considered as the Dark Horse for the marquee event. The ODI showpiece will kickoff with England taking on South Africa at The Oval on May 30.
The two-time World Cup-winning champions qualified for the event as the last team after Afghanistan. The supreme show displayed by the senior-most player of the team has amazed his fans in the stands. Earlier, questions were raised at the fitness of Chris Gayle, and he proved his worth in the shortest form of cricket.
Whereas, their recent performance as a team during England’s tour of West Indies has definitely changed the way the world looks at them. And the way the individual performed at the recently-concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) is significant in itself.

It will be the fourth time that West Indies will be playing in England for the World Cup. The earlier three times they played, they ended up winning the first two while making it to the final in the third. This adds an interesting fact for no other team has played so many World Cup finals in England.
With Pakistan’s current performances in the ODIs pretty poor, Windies has good chances to mark their first game, irrespective of being ranked below them.
