West Indies has named a 16 member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against India that will start on February 16 after the completion of the three-match ODI series.

Kieron Pollard as expected will continue his leadership while Nicholas Pooran has taken the deputy role. Shamarh Brooks, Nkrumah Bonner, and Kemar Roach are notable names that are set to play only the ODIs and will not be part of the T20I series.

West Indies Retained Most Of The Names Who Played In T20I Series Against England

West Indies team is currently playing the five-match T20I series against England at home and the series is levelled 2-2 with 1 match to go. The Kieron Pollard-led side did not have the best of times in the recent T20I World Cup 2021 despite a lot of experts tagging them as the favourites and they crashed out in the Super 12 stages of the tournament.

The two-time World T20 champions West Indies will now have to take part in the qualifier stages for this year’s T20 World Cup 2022 to get into the Super 12 stages. Senior all-rounder Kieron Pollard will continue to lead the West Indies squad while Nicholas Pooran will remain his deputy.

The West Indian side has retained most of the names from the squad that took part in the T20I series against England. The squad boasts of a lot of all-rounders including the skipper himself while the likes of Rovman Powell and Jason Holder have all been in excellent form in the ongoing T20I series against England.

Ravi Bishnoi Earned Maiden Call Up To Both T20I And ODI Squads While Deepak Hooda Has Been Recalled After 5 years In ODIs

India has already named their squad for the T20I series and Rohit Sharma will be back in action as the leader of the pack. Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami have been rested while a lot of young fast bowlers have gotten the nod for the first time.

Th leg-spin bowler Ravi Bishnoi, 21, is currently enjoying the best of January 2022 as the youngster was first picked by Lucknow Super Giants for IPL 2022 and now has also been called up to the Indian team for the West Indies series.

Ravi Bishnoi has earned his maiden call up to the Indian side while Deepak Hooda has been recalled after five years for the ODI side this time. All three T20I games will be taking place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata due to the travel risks involved during Covid-19 times.

The squad sees major changes in the team. Kuldeep Yadav makes a return to the team in ODIs, while Harshal Patel (T20I), Avesh Khan (both) and Deepak Hooda (ODI) has been called-up along with youngster Ravi Bishnoi (both).

The three T20Is will be played at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on February 16, 18, and 20, following the three-match ODI series which will be played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on February 6, 9, and 11.
