Dinesh Chandimal, on Monday, scored his maiden Test ton to put Sri Lanka in command of the second Test against Australia in Galle. The right-handed batsman remained unbeaten on 206 as Sri Lanka scored 554 in reply to Australia’s 364.

Chandimal’s knock came off 326 balls and was studded with 16 fours and 5 sixes. He reached his double century in style by smashing Mitchell Starc for back-to-back sixes.

Chandimal now holds the record for the highest Test score by an Sri Lankan against Australia. The previous record was held by Kumar Sangakkara. With a lead of nearly 200 runs, Sri Lanka will be eyeing a series-levelling win.
