Wicket-keeping has been one of the toughest thing to do in a Test match and if the opposition team bats for long then the wicket-keeper is tested to his levels. One of the main reasons why wicket-keeper faces most troubles in a test matches when compared to any other fielder is because of all the gears that he wears such as Gloves, pads and a helmet.

Having worn all these, the keepers still need to keep their focus as there can be an opportunity to take a wicket at any point. There have been many keepers who have done this well and also kept themselves fit to effect as many dismissals as possible. Today we will take a look at list of keepers to effect most number of dismissals in Test Cricket:

Mark Boucher tops the list of wicket-keepers with 555 dismissals in 147 matches. Following him is Adams Gilchrist with 416 matches in 96 Test matches.

The latest entrant into the list is off Brad Haddin as he crossed the 250 mark in the ongoing Boxing Day Test against India. MS Dhoni is currently 5th on the list with 290 dismissals, which also includes 38 stumping’s, the highest among all the wicket-keepers in this list. One of the probable reason being that Dhoni has been the keeper when spinners like Kumble and Harbhajan Singh were at their best. With Dhoni still having many years to play, there is good chance for him to enter the Top 3.

When it comes to stumping’s, next in the list Adam Gilchrist with 37, most off which have come when the bowler has been Shane Warne.
