With Duleep Trophy Players Set To Feature For India A, Is It A Chance For Gambhir, Yuvraj To Make A Comeback?

The Duleep Trophy 2017/18 is all set to become a dull tournament again as most of the players in different squads have been selected for the India A team which will face New Zealand A in two unofficial Test matches, which will lead to the urgent need of players.

With top Indian players busy with one or other assignment, the opportunity could surely fall in the hands of discarded Indian players Gautam Gambhir and Yuvraj Singh. While Gambhir played his last international game against England in 2016, Yuvraj was a member of Iteam India in Champions Trophy and Windies series that followed but has been dropped since.

If selected, it will be an opportunity for them to make a comeback in the team as selectors have already named best players in various Duleep Trophy squads and now them missing from the tournament due to India A commitments, the selectors might be forced to call on these two players.

Should this happen, then it will be a big surprise, especially in case of Yuvraj as he was dropped from team India for Sri Lanka series in the name of being rested. He was again ignored for Australia series, but now, he could get an opportunity to showcase his talent at a higher level.

The third game of Duleep Trophy will be played from September 19 to 22 and the India A series starts on September 23, which means that selectors have to announce a squad next week itself for last two games and then it will be clear whether these two will be considered to revive their careers or not.
