One more name has added to Australia’s injured player list in the ongoing India tour after Will Pucovski suffered a concussion during the first three-day warmup game between India A and Australia A. The youngster was being looked at as the potential opening batsman for Australia in the marquee four-match Test series against Australia.
During Australia’s second innings, the opening batsman, who was out for a duck on the first occasion, was looking in a good touch of the bat. During the 13th over when Pucovski was batting at 23, Kartik Tyagi bowled a bouncer which Pucovski got hit on the helmet and went for a four. But the youngster kneeled down soon after being hit he stayed down at the crease for almost a minute. His situation had appalled everyone as India A player surrounded him.
Will Pucovski doubtful for the Test match:
After physio attended him, Will Pucovski was taken out of the field and was taken for a scan. This has put him in doubt for the all-important series against India, which is scheduled to begin on December 17.
As far as the match is concerned, the India A openers were thankfully not out for a duck in the second innings but they also could not stand up to the expectation. Prithvi Shaw and Shubman Gill were out for 19 and 29 runs respectively. Pujara was out for a duck and Rahane also could not replicate his first innings performance.
At one stage it looked like Australia A will take away the game but Wriddhiman Saha played a gritty knock. He stood unbeaten and scored a half-century.
Australia A got the target for 131 in about 15 overs. They lost the wicket of Joe Burns (0) in the very first over of the innings and after that, the side looked to play out the remaining overs. In the end, the three-day match ended in a draw.
