Windies Vs India: Windies Bowl With Two Debutants; India Unchanged

Windies won the toss and decided to field first. They had two debutants in form of Kyle Hope and Kesrick Williams. It was a surprise to see Williams in the side as he was not the part of the 13-member squad that was announced by Windies for the rest of the matches but still, he was included on the side and went on to make his debut, which meant that there was no place for Sunil Ambris, who was expected to make his debut in this game.

On the other hand, there were no changes in the Indian line-up and skipper Virat Kohli retained the same playing XI. Rishabh Pant still has to wait for his chance as skipper Virat Kohli resisted with Yuvraj Singh, despite his failure in past six outings to the crease.

It will be hard to bat in the first innings, Jeffrey Dujon said while inspecting the pitch. Hence, the Jason Holder led bowling side will look to get early wickets and put a barrier on India opening batsmen.

Captains talk –

Jason Holder:

“We are going to field first thanks to the overnight rain. It might have done some damage. We have got two debutants. Kyle Hope(debutant) comes in for Kieron Powell and Keserick Williams(debutant) comes in for Joseph who has been rested. We have a balanced side. We just need to execute our plans. We have got an opportunity to make amends for what happened in the last game.”

Virat Kohli:

“We defintely have played good cricket. Looks like a good surface. Last time as well we put some good runs on the board. The bowling unit really kept things tight in the last game. That is something that we worked on in the last game. Kuldeep was outstanding starting his career. I hope he continues to do well. It is always about having belief in yourselves personally and then the performances follow.”

Windies playing XI: Evin Lewis, Kyle Hope, Shai Hope(w), Jason Mohammed, Roston Chase, Rovman Powell, Jason Holder(c), Ashley Nurse, Devendra Bishoo, Kesrick Williams, Miguel Cummins
