A woman cricketer has alleged that no action was taken against a self-styled priest from Bhilwara in Rajasthan who raped her on the pretense of marrying her. The alleged victim is believed to be a part of the Haryana Women’s team. The Hisar Police have booked four persons including one of the accused, his friend and woman survivor from the same rape attack earlier in the year.
As per reports in the Times of India, the woman had appeared before Haryana DGP BS Sandhu who was present in Hisar to scrutinize the security arrangements in the quest of the verdict against the rape case on Sunday. She not only alleged the police for not taking any proper action, she further added that offensive and abusive language was hurled by the police officer against her.
In the complaint lodged by the concerned woman cricketer, she had come in direct contact with some Vidyanand, who is the main accused in the case through a male acquaintance of her friends as per reports in the TOI. She also added that Vidyananad had taken her to Haridwar and abused her on the false promise of marrying her.
Hisar SP Manisha Chaudhary said one of the accused had been arrested.
“The main accused is on the run and we are conducting raids to arrest him. We will arrest him as soon as possible,” she said.
