Pakistan cricket team received another blow ahead of the 2015 World Cup after their all rounder Mohammad Hafeez ruled out of the tournament due to an ankle injury. Opening batsman Nasir Jamshed is likely to get a recall into the team. Earlier, Mohammad Hafeez was banned from bowling due to a suspect action and was due to appear for a bowling Test which he eventually missed due to the injury.
Hafeez suffered the injury during the recently concluded 2nd ODI agaisnt New Zealand at Napier and it is believed that he has to take rest for 3 weeks. Pakistan will open their World Cup counter with clash against India on 15th February.
“Hafeez has been ruled out of the World Cup and will return home with the first available flight and in his place Nasir Jamshed has been summoned,” a Pakistan Cricket Board spokesperson told a private news agency.
Pakistan has had some hard luck coming into the World Cup, with 4 of their first choice players have been ruled out. 3 of them are injured and Saeed Ajmal ruled himself out after he failed to correct his action. The injured ones incude Umar Gul and Junaid Khan along with Mohammad Hafeez.
