Indian team has performed more than what has been expected from them in this World T20. They found out many positives through the tournament and kept going without defeat. India had reached semi-final without losing a game in Super 10 stage and will be playing South Africa in semis. So let’s have a look at India’s SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of India’s road to Semis.

Talented Rohit – Delightful Kohli:

Before the start of the tournament people called to make Rohit Sharma bat at middle order looking at his form and failures in warm-up games. But he was continued as opener and to everyone’s shock he has been the 2nd leading run-scorer for India and among top 10 of the tournament. He scored two half centuries one against West Indies and another against Bangladesh. He put on two century stands with India’s top run scorer in recent past and in this World T20, Virat Kohli. He has continued his great show as he put on 170 runs in 4 matches. He also scored two half centuries also in the same games Rohit scored. This duo has become a crucial thing for India.

Experts considered dropping of Bhuvaneshwar Kumar to bring in any other pacer in his place before the tourney. But once the Indian campaign started he played crucial roles in producing the good starts. In this World T20 he bowled 12 overs in which he picked up only 3 wickets at strike-rate of 24. But he was the most economical bowler of this tournament conceding at rate of just 4.33. His spell of 3-0-3-0 equalled the record for most economical spell also was main reason for the win. Against Australia he recorded figures of 3-0-7-1. He can deliver some Yorkers at the end, but Dhoni hasn’t offered his 4th over even in a game.

Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin have played an important role in India’s success. Between these two in 30.2 overs they picked up 16 wickets at a strike rate of 12 and with an economy around 5. They done great job even in winning Man of the match awards and Mishra grabbed in 1st two games and Ashwin in last two. This Off-Spin and Leg-Spin bowlers have been troubling the batsmen with variations and with their Carom Ball and Doosra.

2nd opener:

India’s one of the main problems has been opening. Rohit Sharma has performed the role well but Dhawan has failed on other end. They both gave good start only once. That came in the first game against Pakistan with a 50-run partnership. Shikhar Dhawan has just scored 31 runs in 3 matches but of that 30 runs came against Pakistan itself. In the game against Australia he was rested and Rahane was taken in his place. He looked good during his stay. He scored with delightful strokes. He made 19 off 18 balls in the match. Even Rahane hasn’t performed much Dhawan may brought back considering Dhoni’s words.

2nd Pacer:

People thought that Mohamad Shami was main pacer of the team and either of Bhuvi and Mohit Sharma will be as 2nd pacer. But the tournament changed the thing and before semis it came as Bhuvi is main pacer and Shami or Mohit will be filling 2nd pacer duties. Shami in the 3 games he played bowled 10 over off which he went for 87, the most expensive of Indian bowlers and picked up 2 wickets at strike rate of 30. Mohit Sharma who replaced him bowled well recoring figures of 2-0-11-1. MS Dhoni may decide over this concern in the team meeting.

No SIR Magic:

Before the Asia Cup Jadeja was the front line spinner for India even he was taken over Ashwin in tests which shown his talent. But he couldn’t equal his standard of bowling. In 16 overs he bowled he could manage with just 5 wickets at an economy of 7.56 and a strike rate of 19.2. This showed how ineffective he was in this World T20.

Semis Vs South Africa:

Known as chokers for choking in knock outs of ICC events, South Africa will be a weaker team than ours. Considering their latest form they aren’t expected to give any trouble to India. This match can be called a cake-walk for India as they are recognized as favourites to win the game.

Finals Vs West Indies:

As India wins the semis and West Indies do the same, then April 6th will be on its legs. With two real dangerous teams in the finals people will be having a fest to eyes. India will be come out with confidence of beating them as they already did it in 1st age them.

Finals Vs Sri Lanka:

With a sub-continent team in front of you, India can run away with win easily. With Sri Lanka mostly depending on spin and Indian batsmen good in spin it doesn’t makes any difference. With a well know opponent in front of you, you can capitalize how do it performances regularly.

Semis Vs South Africa:

Considering them as chokers South Africa have some T20 specialists like, Ab de V, Steyn, Miller, Morkel. If we continue to say them as Chokers and take the lightly in Knock-outs they may send back any team to home. With looking at performances by some South Africans, India will have to play a bit cautious over Africa.

Finals Vs West Indies:

Players like Gayle, Smith, Sammy, Simmons, Bravo and other all-rounders in the team West Indies is a stiff opponent for India. With team like them in front how could India restrict them? Can they repeat the performance they done in super 10 stage? But it will be an interesting encounter though to watch along with the West Indies. The chances of Indian’ victory depends up on how the bowlers can get the big men.

Finals Vs Sri Lanka:

With a sub-continent team in front of you, India can find difficulty. Sri Lanka some T20 players like Malinga, Kusal Perera and Herath. With a well know opponent in front of you, it depends upon how you can capitalize on it. More ever Sri Lanka is a stronger side and beat any team on its day. So India will face a difficulty in form of Sri Lanka in finals.
